Psalm 59:16 NIV But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.
For many years I’ve been a minister. I’ve naturally been a person always in the position of helping others going through difficult times. But, one day I went to a dark place. I did not know how to express myself after I lost my husband. I went through so many different emotions. At times it seemed like the pain was—unbearable.
I got to the point when I asked, “God, I don’t understand why this was happening to me?” As Christians, I believe we can all struggle with thinking it shows weakness in our faith if we cry or mourn too long. I was reminded of, Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Yes, it is “OKAY TO MOURN.”
While I was going through this tragedy, “Hallelujah” I had the word down on the inside of me. Even though I was unable to read my bible, I was able to call up the word of God and draw strength on His word. You see, even as Christian we will have trials and tribulations. We are not immune from hurt and pain. But if we can hold onto the promises of God—He will see us through all the difficult times in our lives.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come to You giving all praise and honor for Your love and protection over our lives. Father God, I ask that You put Your loving arms around those needing strength and comfort in these times of despair. Let Your word be a light unto our path. In Jesus, Your precious son’s name, I pray. Thank You, God, and Amen!
