“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” (Hebrews 11:1 NLT)
This verse in Hebrew 11 beautifully sums up the essence of faith—believing in something we cannot physically see.
Have you ever experienced a moment when you knew something incredible was about to happen but couldn’t “see” it? That’s how I felt when I met my husband.
I was a single mother of two small girls, and I’d been praying for a partner who shared my faith and values. I knew I wanted someone who would fit our family well, but I wasn’t sure where to start looking.
That’s when I decided to try a Christian dating site. Initially, I was hesitant, but I felt a nudge in my heart that this was the right place for me. And that’s where I met my husband.
From the very beginning, I knew that there was something special about him. His sincere heart and deep faith in God shone through in everything he did. We talked for hours and quickly realized we shared many of the same values and beliefs.
But what stood out to me was his genuine love for my daughters. He didn’t just tolerate them––he embraced them as his own. That’s when I knew he was the one for me.
Looking back, I can see how faith played a critical role in bringing us together. I’d prayed for a partner who shared my faith and values, and God answered that prayer in a way that exceeded my expectations.
It wasn’t just about finding someone who checked all the boxes on my list. It was about finding someone with a sincere heart and a deep love for God. This is exactly what God showed me in my husband.
Our journey together hasn’t always been easy, but we’ve held onto our faith and trust in God through the ups and downs. I know our love will continue to grow stronger because it’s built on a foundation of faith.
If you’re looking for love, I encourage you to trust God. He knows what’s best for you and will guide you to the right person if that’s part of his plan for you. When you meet that special someone, hold onto your faith and let it guide you as you build a life together.
Faith isn’t just about believing in something you can’t see. It’s about trusting in something greater than yourself and allowing that trust to guide you on the right path. And when you do, amazing things can happen.
We’re called to unwaveringly believe in God and rely on his promises as Christians. Even though we can’t physically see God, we can feel his presence in our daily lives through his blessings, guidance, and protection. We’re called to trust in God’s plan for us, even when we don't understand it, and to have faith that he’ll never leave or forsake us.
At times, we may find ourselves in a situation where we are not trusting God entirely. It may seem like we are losing faith, but we may be losing sight of a dream we once had or a prayer that we stopped believing in. These dreams and prayers could be anything – a desire to travel the world, a wish to write a book or a hope to find true love. However, when we lose faith in these aspirations, they become just another dead end in our lives.
But if we have faith, it can work wonders. It can help us breathe new life into our abandoned dreams, neglected aspirations, and unmet objectives. It can help us see the potential in these lost desires and turn them into reality. With faith, we can overcome obstacles, face challenges, and achieve our goals. We can tap into our inner strength, find the courage to take risks and trust in our abilities to make things happen.
If you feel you are losing faith in finding a partner or finding yourself, remember that your faith can turn things around. It can help you find your way back to your dreams and aspirations and give you the strength to pursue them with all your heart and soul.
Christians are called to trust God and his promises, even when we face challenges and doubt. Our faith in God’s presence in our lives and the reality of heaven is a source of hope and comfort, giving us the strength to persevere through life’s trials and tribulations.
Faith isn’t just believing things will happen, it’s confidence that they will. It’s the assurance that God is with us even during trials and tribulations. Faith enables us to overcome fear and doubt and to trust in God’s plan for our lives.
This can involve deepening our relationship with the divine, increasing our knowledge of the Bible, seeking guidance from spiritual leaders, and living out our beliefs in daily life. Being open to learning from others and incorporating their perspectives can help strengthen our faith and enhance its demonstration.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please show me how to hold fast to my faith, knowing that it’s the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. God, please help me have confidence that what I hope for will happen. Help me also have the assurance that you’re always with me, even when I can’t physically see you. Amen.
Your turn: Faith can be demonstrated in various ways, including prayer, worship, acts of kindness, and sharing one's beliefs with others. Why is it essential to strive to improve how you show faith?
