1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reminds us, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (NKJV).

This verse serves as a powerful reminder of our identity as God’s possession and the responsibility that comes with it. Recognizing that our lives belong to God compels us to glorify Him in every aspect of our existence. Here are three practical ways to prioritize glorifying God and submit to His authority:

1.     Engage in Daily Prayer and Scripture Reading: Establishing a consistent prayer life is vital for nurturing your relationship with God. Set aside dedicated time each day to communicate with Him, sharing your thoughts, concerns, and gratitude. As you pray, invite the Holy Spirit to guide your conversations, helping you discern God’s voice amidst the noise of daily life.

Additionally, immerse yourself in Scripture. Reading God’s Word not only enriches your understanding of His character and will but also provides wisdom and encouragement for the challenges you face. Consider keeping a journal to record the insights and revelations you receive during this time. This practice will align your mind and heart with God’s desires, ultimately helping you recognize areas where you can glorify Him.

2. Submit to God’s Will: Actively seeking God’s guidance in your decisions is an essential aspect of living under His authority. In every situation, whether it’s a major life choice or a simple daily decision, pause and ask yourself, “How does this honor God?” This introspection encourages you to evaluate your motivations and align them with God’s purposes.

Practicing submission may require you to let go of personal ambitions or desires that do not align with His will. Surround yourself with individuals who encourage accountability and spiritual growth, as their insights can help you stay on track. Remember, submitting to God’s will is a continuous journey, one that requires humility and trust.

3. Serve Others: Serving those around you is a tangible way to glorify God and demonstrate His love in action. Look for opportunities to help others in your community, whether through volunteering, offering support to a friend in need, or simply being a listening ear.

Acts of service reflect Christ’s character and remind us that our lives are not solely for our benefit but for the betterment of those around us. Engage in discussions with your community to understand their needs and explore how you can contribute. This not only honors God but also fosters a sense of unity and compassion within the body of Christ.

Prayer—Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible gift of Your Holy Spirit and for the authority You hold in my life. I recognize that my body is Your temple, and I desire to glorify You in everything I do. Help me to prioritize prayer, submit to Your will, and serve others selflessly. May my actions reflect Your love and grace in all situations. I ask for guidance as I navigate the challenges of daily life, and I trust that You will lead me closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Your Turn—Reflect on your life: In what area do you need to submit more fully to God’s authority? Identify one specific action you can take this week to glorify Him in that area. Whether it’s dedicating time for prayer, seeking His guidance in a decision, or finding a way to serve others, take that step of faith and witness how God works in your life as you prioritize Him.
