Overcomer

Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

This has been my favorite scripture since I was in the 4th grade. As I think back on my early childhood to now, I have no regrets of following the word of the Lord. I can still remember going home after school and reading this scripture every day. I remember some kids being unkind to me. But I remembered my teachings from my parents as it relates to the love of God and his word. And this always brought me through. I overcame.

Being diagnosed with dyslexia and learning how to deal with it had challenges. With the help of my parents and God, I was able to overcome it. You see, words are a powerful thing when it comes to faith. I had my parents always speaking blessings over me. I also had the word of God inside me. I could call upon the Lord to get me through any situation I was in.

With my strong faith in God, I realize I never have to be a perfect person who goes to church every time the doors are open. Neither do I have to be a perfect person who knows how to pray an elaborate prayer. The same truth is available to all of us. All we need are our words and we can speak to God anytime we need him and call on His words from the bible. We can then get through the trials of this life, with God on our side.

Prayer: Dear God I come to you as humble as I can thanking you for your help in navigating my way through life. I ask that you keep your hand of protection on every young person in my life. I ask that you send help, hope and healing their way to lead and guide them to your way of living. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
