Unleashing the Power of Faith: How Believing Can Change Your Life

The prophet Daniel was no stranger to believing in big things that in the human mind seemed unattainable.

In the book of Daniel, we read about King Nebuchadnezzar and how the sorcerers, magicians, enchanters, and astrologers could not interpret his dream nor tell him his dream.

“The astrologers answered the king, “There is no one on earth who can do what the king asks! No king, however great and mighty, has ever asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or astrologer. What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among humans” (Daniel 1:10-11, NIV).

Daniel, however, believed that God would reveal the meaning of King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and the dream itself. He prayed earnestly and rallied his friends, expecting it to happen.

Eventually, God revealed the dream and the interpretation to Daniel. What the other wise men found to be impossible, Daniel found to be possible. What seemed unattainable was attainable because of God.

The sorcerers, magicians, enchanters, and astrologers could not possibly reveal the mystery because they did not have God on their side. It’s a reminder that goals rooted in God can only be achieved with God. For believers, perhaps that makes our goals appear unattainable––the absence of God on our side.

Daniel had the faith to believe big because God was on his side and, all the while, had been grooming Daniel for that very moment.

From the human perspective, dreaming big feels impossible. The goal itself feels unattainable. But with God, the unattainable becomes attainable––and unleashing the power of faith changes our lives.

Prayer: God, you desire me to have the faith to dream big. At times, what I believe in seems unattainable. Please help me to remember that you specialize in the impossible. You would not give me a goal that, with your help, I could not reach. You will be with me every step of the way. Amen.
Your Turn: Have you ever felt hesitant to dream big? Why?
