Coreetha Gantling-affectionately known as Sister G.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Gantling just when COVID restrictions were relaxed enough for restaurants to open. Before having dinner together, my daughter and I decided to first explore a nearby park. We noticed Sister G., and her friend sitting on a bench talking. When we walked by, they greeted us. But before we could move on, Sister G, asked if they could pray for my daughter and I. They did. It was miraculous… the rest is history.
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Probably about 20 years ago.
How long does it take you to write a book?
Timelines differ for each project. However, I wrote a skit for a girl’s group called The Holy Ghost Girls I mentored. The skit was called The Diary of an unwed Mother. Ten years later, I was inspired to write the book with that title. This is example of the process of how one of my projects became a book.
What is your work schedule like when you're writing?
Although I’m retired from teaching school, I haven’t retired from teaching God’s word. I host 3 radio shows teaching the bible. Therefore, I have to carefully organize and manage my time.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I type with one finger as I am led by the spirit of God to write.
Where do you get your information and inspiration for your books?
I am led by the spirit of God what to write about. I do google info; I also use different versions of the Bible.
When did you write your first book?
I wrote my first book in 2017.
What do you like to do when you're not writing?
I enjoy teaching children, youth as well as adults at church and on internet radio. I enjoy eating at nice restaurants, I love to travel especially to different countries, I love to meet people and hear their life story, I enjoy working with THE HOLY GHOST GIRLS and teaching the young ladies to sew and cook and the ways of God in creative ways such as skits, plays, Bible games and various activities. I enjoy swimming in a pool. I enjoy going to the beach, visiting with family and friends, I also enjoy watching and going to great movies
What does your family think of your writing?
My family likes that I’m a writer and they seem to enjoy my books!
What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
That I could be led by the Spirit of God as I wrote, which made it easier for me to write.
How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
I have written 3 books. They are all my favorite.
Do you have any suggestions to help others become better writers?
Yes, pray and seek the counselor, Father God about what to write and for guidance as you write.
Do you hear from your readers much?
Sometimes, especially after they read my first book. What kinds of things do they have to say? Many of them told me it was easy to read and they didn’t stop until they finished the entire book. Some said they wanted to know what happen to the characters in the book after the book ended. That gave me inspiration to write volume 2.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about yourself?
I taught and enjoyed teaching children in public school for twenty-nine years.
